I love October. This is the time of year when colors become vibrant, the weather cools off, and Ghouls and Goblins start appearing everywhere.
We’ve been indulging in our favorite horror movies all month. The Husband Dude celebrates his birthday this month so we always have a monster movie marathon and watch the classics: Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, and Dracula (all the originals from the 1930’s and 40’s). Then he usually breaks out the B movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space.
I always make a Halloween theme for his birthday, especially the cakes. This year a good friend of ours made an awesome skull and filled it with cherry filling that resembled oozing blood. It was realistic enough that our oldest granddaughter, Molly, refused to eat it!
The other night we watched Halloween from 1978. It’s probably my favorite of all of them, possibly because I’ve had a girl crush on Jamie Lee Curtis since high school. On a side note, did you know that the little girl in the movie, Kyle Richards, grew up to be a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills?
The best part of Halloween is dressing up. Actually, The Husband Dude and I don’t need an excuse to dress up. We love theme parties!
Of course, we love to get the family involved. Here’s my favorite from last year. Our granddaughter, Molly, trying on THD’s mask. I told her to turn her head and we ended up with this creepy gem!
However, I think this video wins the internet. It’s a parody of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, right down to the disclaimer about the occult at the beginning. This made my month!
I’ve got more posts coming up this week. In the meantime, here’s a recap of the last couple of weeks…
In Case You Missed It
I wrote about making Left Turns, why I shouldn’t be a Mommy or Fashion Blogger, My Unemployment Bucket List, and Food On a Stick.
I also had a serious Fan Girl moment when my favorite Blogger, Jenny Lawson a.k.a. The Bloggess, started following me on Twitter.
Not going to lie… I might have peed myself a little when I got this notification. Fortunately, I was at home and not at work. Note to self: Keep extra panties in your purse in case of exciting blogger moments.
If you don’t read her blog, you’re seriously missing out. She doesn’t need me to send her referrals but I’ll put a link at the end of this post for her anyway because I think she’s hilarious and her brutal honesty about her depression and anxiety is something you need if you suffer from these yourself or you love someone who does. She also happens to be a New York Times bestselling author. I’m honored she even noticed me!
I continue to be awed by the support you all give me every day. Whether it’s recognizing me and saying something, or just giving feedback on a post I wrote. I’m humbled that anyone chooses to read words I wrote and I appreciate you all so much. I love getting comments on the blog so please keep it up!
In addition to Twitter, you can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. You can also subscribe at the top of the website page to get an email notification every time I post something new. Never miss a new post!
Have a great week, y’all!
Visit The Bloggess here. You won’t regret it!
